july 2023
thanks for subscribing to my newsletter! here’s a june recap, and some information for july and august and onwards
upcoming booking form
as a perk of subscribing to this newsletter, here is an early access link to my booking form for august. i’ll be closing this link, and opening my books to the public on july 10th, so make sure to fill out a form before then.
flash updates and new flash policy
i’m updating my flash policy. starting in july, all flash pieces will be available to tattoo twice. once in black and gray, and once in color. i am still open to doing flash modifications/redraws of pieces that have already been done (twice), but these will be on a case by case basis and considered customs moving forward.
i’ll be applying this policy update retroactively to all of my flash up to april 2022. if you’re interested in getting some older b&w flash in color, drop me a line!
anyways, check out my new flash for july and onwards. i’ve provided some color concept ideas based on the ink i currently have, but i am super open to other color ideas as well. i also have a ton of older flash still available in my books

works in progress
here’s some stuff i’m working on :)
four horsemen of the apocalypse drawing
i had a client reach out with a cool concept for a back piece of the four horsemen of the apocalypse. they unfortunately bailed on it, but i decided to draw it anyways. here’s a wip pic :) after i finish the drawing, i plan on scanning this and adding digital color/grayscale stuff. i would still like to do this as a back piece, so if you are interested fill out a booking form! happy to do it in black & gray or color.
im also thinking of dropping this design as either a riso print or a throw blanket with throw & co. ….. what do y’all think? dm me!

mothra chest piece
david and i started working on this really awesome mothra chest piece. i’m super stoked with the progress we made in the first session, and i’ll be seeing him back towards the end of july to bang out the rest of the black work, and add in some crazy color.

pikmin
i know i’m late to the party, but i decided to get the hd remaster of pikmin 1+2 for the switch in preparation for pikmin 4. slept on these games as a kid and am just getting into them now, but i am a sucker for this atmosphere and vibe. being super tiny is so lit. loving how the levels slowly unfold as you grow your pikmin horde. the first one took me about 8-10 hours to finish and felt rewarding but simple. the second builds on the formula but adds more depth with the two additional pikmin types and caves. really stoked to see how 3 and 4 build on the concept.
toutoune gallery
my girlfriend and i took a trip up to toronto to visit some family this month, and we did a ton of fun stuff but something that stuck out to me was toutoune gallery. this spot is small but filled to the brim with a lot of amazing art, prints, zines, and knick knacks. we spent a half hour going through a ton of amazing work from local toronto artists, as well as artists from all over. i scooped patrick kyle’s new book from breakdown press “baby” and isabella got stickers and a cute vintage hairbrush. there was also a great show up of originals by jonny p (@weirdoldjunk). definitely check this spot out if you haven’t already and are in toronto!
winona’s
this wasn’t our first time going to winona’s in brooklyn. the last time we went, though, we were seated outside in the outdoor dining structure on flushing in the cold of winter. despite all that, the meal was amazing and we were planning to come back for a while. this time, we got seated inside at the bar and i was really impressed with how nice this restaurant was. we don’t usually like to be seated at the bar, but that’s all that was left and the host said “let me just show you the bar, it’s a really nice bar”. when we sat down, i ordered the “forest old fashioned” which used a mushroom infused bourbon. this was one of the smoother old fashions i’ve had, but i don’t know if that was on the mushrooms sticking out of my glass, or their recipe. isabella and i ordered the baked ricotta and red carabineros to start. the ricotta was really good but i had a difficult time getting a good amount of food out of the prawns. what i did get was fantastic though. this is one of those places where the portions are pretty small, but super super good. we ordered grilled octopus and shishito peppers for our main course, and the octopus came with nduja and potatos. i’m a sucker for nduja. the shishito peppers were surprisingly the highlight of the meal for me. they were super flavorful and the portions for this one side were huge for some reason. we finished off with the olive oil cake which i had never heard of before. to me, it seemed like a normal piece of lemon cake. nothing to write home about. all in all, this spot is definitely worth it. decently expensive and small proportions, but super delicately cooked. you leave satisfied but not bursting out of your belt. two thumbs up. sit at the bar. :)
