thanks for subscribing to my newsletter! here’s a july recap, and some information for august and september
upcoming booking form
as a perk of subscribing to this newsletter, here is an early access link to my booking form for september. i’ll be closing this link, and opening my books to the public on august 10th, so make sure to fill out a form before then.
news flash its new flash
check out my new flash! i’m super excited about this spread. all works available in b/w and color.

reminder about my new flash policy! all of my flash (new and old) is available to be tattoo’d twice, so if there’s an older piece you’re interested in, shoot me a screenshot when filling out your booking form to check on it’s availability. here are some color mockups of older pieces i’d like to do.

works in progress
here’s some stuff i’m working on :)
artifacts painting series
this is a series of 20 paintings of made up artifacts from a fictional civilization that never existed. i shared two paintings back in the june newsletter, as well as some color comps and drawings, but i’ve now finished 7 total. i’m taking my time with this series, and fitting it in when i can around work and life. it’s nice to have a painting side project. check out the new paintings :)

as i mentioned in june, i’d like to compile this series into a risograph zine that i will hopefully drop at some point in the fall. i’d love to get each piece framed, and have a nice little show somewhere when the project is finished. if anyone is interested in working with me on this, please reach out!
gear 5 print
in celebration of luffy finally reaching his peak (gear 5) in one piece this sunday (august 6th) i’ll be dropping a brand new print combining two of my previous custom tattoos into a new piece. here’s where i’m currently at with it, but i should be done with the drawing by sunday.

four horsemen blanket
i’m working with trevor basset over at throw & co to turn my latest four horsemen illustration into a throw blanket. not sure on the exact release of this blanket at the moment but i’m predicting mid-august → mid-september. i’ll also be releasing it as a full size print on my online print store, so keep your eyes peeled if you’re into it!

check out my previous blankets with throw & co! no. 130 and no. 167 are still available for purchase

mtg shirt
my magic group decided to make some bootleg magic shirts. my buddy ian whipped up a cool halftone graphic of the card “cabal therapy” and i went outside of my comfort zone to whip up a gnarly border. we’re not gonna be selling these, but if you like the graphic and want to print your own, feel free. just give credit where it’s due.

sketchbook scans
here are some scans of sketchbook spreads from last month

the ruben museum
we discovered the ruben museum’s free friday night admission offering, and decided to take advantage to see the current shows “death is not the end” and “life after: the bardo”, which both focus on death and the concepts of the afterlife. both shows juxtapose how those themes are depicted in eastern and western art, with the latter focusing on the concept of the bardo in tibetan buddhism. i definitely recommend checking these shows out if you’re interested in exploring often overlooked art from asia. take advantage of the free friday night offering too if you’re on a budget.
side note: i know it’s super lame that all of this art was stolen from it’s country of origin. keep that in mind if you do visit!
the feast of mount carmel
every year in june, our lady of mount carmel hosts a huge street fair for the better part of two weeks in williamsburg. the area surrounding the church gets turned into a giant street fair. it’s very similar to the feast of san gennaro that happens in little italy in september. we rolled up in the rain on the second-to-last day to grab some sausage & peppers and fried oreos, foods i can only really seem to find at street fairs and carnivals. we walked around for a bit and got heckled by carnies before heading over to watch the lifting of the giglio. the giglio is a massive statue on a platform. there’s a band and mc on the platform reading out raffle winner names, and every 10-15 minutes about 50 men would get under the platform, hoist the whole thing into the air, and march a couple of yards down the street. i’ve gone to the feast of mt carmel for years and this is the first time i’ve actually seen the giglio lift, and boy, let me tell you, it is something else. definitely make sure to keep this in mind next year! and make sure to go to the feast of san gennaro from sept 14th to sept 25th for some slappin sausage and peps
aunt ginny’s
aunt ginny’s is a cool bar/food spot in ridgewood that i went to with my bud ian, where we brainstormed the shirt idea. this spot is pretty low key, but the food really slaps. i had a pernil quesadilla that was essentially a gourmet crunch wrap supreme. super yummy. i’ve heard their chicken really hits too. def want to go back to hang. i recommend this spot if you want to kick back with some buds, have a drink and a bite, and maybe shoot a little pool.
honorable mentions
righteous gemstones third season is extremely good. i’m still playing tears of the kingdom whenever i have some free time. barbie was good. i’ve been listening to trueanon (leftist conspiracy podcast) while i work, and the new cut worms album is pretty good.
