happy new year! january 2024
hey, happy new year! thanks for subscribing to my newsletter. here’s a december recap, and some information for january, february, and even march???
upcoming booking form
as a perk of subscribing to this newsletter, here is an early access link to my booking form for february and march in nyc. i’ll be closing this link, and opening my books to the public on january 15th, so make sure to fill out a form before then for priority bookings.
i’ve been working on a lot of “fun” end of the year administrative stuff, such as re-upping health insurance, getting christmas gifts, and working with the shapeworld team to get all of our affairs in order for next year. this and other (more fun) projects means no new flash this month. i have a ton of stuff sketched out though and will probably drop a spread on january 15th, and another in february.
cool tats from december
here’s a few tats i did last month that i really resonated with. i didn’t work a ton in november or december in order to ~chill more~ and work on other stuff. it’s been a really fun two months, and i’m pretty excited to hit the road and relax a bit more with isa. but very much looking forward to getting back to nyc and getting back into a more rigorous groove in feb/march!
anyways, i did a lot of tiny/detailed tattoos in december. i’m getting more comfortable with a tight 3 needle, and found it pretty fun/fulfilling to really nail these details at a tiny scale. would love to do more small work in areas that require it, like hands, faces, necks, heads, etc etc etc. would also really like to go huge but with the level of detail i’m achieving in these smaller pieces.

works in progress
heaven ii
i’ve cleaned up all of the drawings for this zine and arranged them all on their respective photoshop files. just need to color the 28 pages and design a cover and we’re ready to print! will likely be playing with this during my road trip and printing when i get back in mid-feb. there’s just a little under 100 drawings in this zine, and i’m super excited to bring it to you.

“play” hats
i got a good response to the “play” hats i made in december, so i’ll likely be ordering a bigger batch later this year. i need to find a good distributor for blanks, and a commercial embroiderer that i can work with on a larger order, so any recommendations would be appreciated! would really like to work with someone nyc based. i’m expecting these to be available in march
ceramics update
have a look at all the little darlings i’ve retrieved from the kiln! the ceramics class isabella and i took at artshack in bed stuy was primarily focused on wheel throwing, and as a beginner it was difficult to just get the basics of centering, opening, and lifting. i feel like i’m such a beginner and i have a lot to learn, but my head is buzzing with ideas. i’m super excited to do more of this in 2024.
first plate broke in the kiln, glazed it anyways second plate, another attempt at drawing with glaze before i learned about underglaze | fun cup + dip glazing |
recently i’ve been collaborating with printsocial to bring you guys a cool tshirt! have a peak at the design below. the shirt will be available for presale around mid-january, so keep an eye out! once the campaign has reached enough shirts to print, we will be greenlit and shirts will be shipped out. i’ll be posting on instagram when the campaign goes live, and may send out an update here as well.

i’m also down to tattoo the pencil drawing, if anyone would be interested in booking it. i think a thigh, torso, or back placement would be cool! let me know in the booking form for feb/march

sketchbook scans
here are some scans of sketchbook spreads from last month. i made a new one and have been using it more than usual :) which is a nice feeling. dont read too closely lol

maison pickle
isabella and i went to this upper west side french (ish?) spot around this time last year, and decided to make a tradition of it. the restaurant is really nice and roomy, and feels big, especially for manhattan. really high ceilings and different levels of seating had the place feeling like a restaurant at a resort or hotel or something. the food was great, but the portions are downright enormous, so we split a french onion soup, a french dip sandwich, and an order of their pull apart bread. we learned our lesson last year, and even splitting everything had us feeling super full. but we saw a 25 layer cake on the way in and we had to order it. we had no choice. we got about 4 layers in before tapping out and grabbing the check. considering how full we were, we decided to walk it off at riverside park south. the cold was serious, especially by the water. but there’s something charming about walking along the hudson in the cold quiet of a winter night. i think that’s why we decided to repeat this date again this year.
vermis & vermis II
over the summer, i purchased these two books by plastiboo, put out by hollow press. it took a while to get here, as hollow press is based in italy, but i received my copies in the middle of the month. i’m a big fan of their work, so having a physical version of their recent dark fantasy stuff is a real treat. it looks like they still have copies of both available, so i would definitely recommend grabbing while they’re still available! and if not, you should definitely follow plastiboo online. really unique stuff
attack on titan
i finally got around to watching attack on titan in november, and finished it up about halfway through the month. i know i’m late to the party, but i really liked this series. i’m glad i put it off till it was finished, because i don’t know if i would have been able to keep up with those cliffhangers. i know the creator has some unfortunate and problematic right wing beliefs, but i think this story has a lot of nuance in the way it approaches really heavy concepts such as nationalism, war, propaganda, etc; that gave me a lot to think about. i have mixed feelings about the end of the show, and i don’t think it made a ~ton~ of sense in the end, but it was overall a really good ride and i definitely recommend it. it feels kind of funny and dumb to recommend one of the most popular animes of the last decade but i’m gonna do it anyway
honorable mentions
i’ve been playing a lot of fortnite recently. never played before but it’s cool that i can play a stupid fun game with friends online like i’m in middle school again. i finally finished cyberpunk 2077, i wasn’t super impressed with the endings. did two of them but didn’t have it in me to keep replaying. it just wasn’t suuuuuper satisfying to me. i’ve been getting back into kanye recently (i know, i know) and have been listening to a lot of graduation and 808’s. also been listening to a ton of crass and screamers. had great indian food at dhamaka and finally tried katz deli after living in the city for 10 years, which i thought was eh and way overpriced.
